History of the Essigmanngut
Preserving tradition, shaping the future
Between then and now. The family-run Hotel Essigmanngut has stood as a silent witness to the passage of time for centuries. It is the place where tradition and contemporary life flow together and mingle. A location that has seen a lot – and has reinvented itself time and again.
Nina, Leni and Daniel Dobranszky
First mentioned in 1686 as the ‘free estate of Christoph Perner zu Rettenwörth, the Essigmanngut was left to the ancestors of the current owners in 1789: The Wintersteller family moved in and ran the estate for generations. The estate passed into the hands of the Dobranszky family in 1948 through marriage. The old farmhouse was converted into a bed and breakfast, which quickly became an insider tip for anyone looking for a special place to stay.
Major transformation followed from 2010 onwards. The Essigmanngut received a thorough makeover by Kornelia and Karl Dobranszky in 2011. Their lavish attention to detail has created a hotel that harmoniously blends the origins of the estate with the comfort of a modern hospitality establishment. The Essigmanngut was extensively expanded and modernized under the management of Nina and Daniel Dobranszky in 2013. Since 2020, the hotel has boasted 50 rooms designed with a clear focus on comfort and familial coziness. But for all the changes, the Essigmanngut has remained entirely true to its roots: a place to arrive and feel at home.
